Badges and Beginnings: Chapter Two

The journey of a first-time troop leader and Girl Scout mom.

Back-to-school season also means back-to-troop season is right around the corner. Girl Scouts of Colorado’s Katie Singleton recently took a few more steps in preparing for her first year as a troop leader, and she’s sharing the journey with us.

This week, Katie received her Girl Scout Daisy Experience Box. Experience Boxes are helpful resources designed especially for new Daisy and Brownie troop leaders. Leaders receive a series of boxes throughout the year filled with tools to make troop meetings fun and successful. If you or your troop are interested in receiving Experience Boxes, you can learn more on our website.

When starting out as a new Girl Scout, one of the most important things you’ll need is your vest to show off all your accomplishments. Katie and her daughter recently stopped by the Girl Scouts of Colorado Retail Shop to pick up a Girl Scout Daisy vest and a few other fun items to kick off the year.

If you are feeling overwhelmed with the start of school and the troop year, the Girl Scouts of Colorado Retail Shop team is ready to help. They can walk you through all the essentials, answer your questions, and even iron on your insignia for an additional $10.

Here are the items Katie and her daughter picked out, all available in-store or online:

  • Official Daisy Tunic

  • Daisy Colorado Insignia Pack

  • Daisy Troop Numbers

  • Daisy Handbook with Petal Requirements

  • Daisy Trio Crossbody Bag

  • Official Daisy Beanie

  • Daisy Scrunchie Set

  • Daisy Bow Set

  • Girl Scout Kit Bag (included with the purchase of a full uniform)

Katie will continue to share her journey with us, from setting up her first troop meeting to preparing her first cookie booth this winter. She hopes her story helps new parents and troop leaders feel more confident as they begin their own Girl Scout adventures.
