Our Girl Scout Troop, 40607, have decided to devote our Silver Award to the Humane Society and Great Pyrenees rescue for dogs. To help these organizations we have created care packages for adopted dogs. Items in the packages include a peanut butter dog treat sample and recipe and a dog toy made from repurposed fleece scraps donated to us by Janska.
This was not a small project. We made over one hundred toys to go home with the rescued dogs. Each girl spent approximately eight hours making all of the toys, and three hours were spent making the treats. Most of the girls also volunteer at different animal rescues. Additionally, the Mill Dog Rescue presented information at Imagine Classical Academy which inspired the students of Imagine to sponsor a kennel at the National Mill Dog Rescue.
