Inspiring Young Musicians Gold Award

Music has always been one of the most powerful ways for people to connect, no matter their skill level, or instrument. My passion for music inspired me to create the Inspiring Young Musicians Club (IYMC) as part of my Girl Scout Gold Award project. I wanted to build a community that supported each other and had the same love and passion for music that I do. This club is student-led, where young musicians can come together, share a passion, and inspire each other.

When I started IYMC, I noticed that many students enjoyed music but didn’t always have access the community to inspire them to continue their musical journey into high school, IYMC was created to encourage students to follow that path. It gives students a place to connect, play, and grow together.

As part of the project’s sustainability, I designed a website that gives information on how to start an IYMC in any school!

On the site, students can:

  • Learn how to start their own club at their school or community.

  • Access tips and tricks to help students give each other feedback on their playing.

  • Find different fun activities to do at their club meetings!

The website makes it possible for IYMC to keep growing after my project ends. It gives every student the tools they need to lead and organize a club similar to IYMC. My hope is that IYMC continues to connect students through their love for music, helping them grow in their talents, provide leadership experience, and confidence in sharing their creativity with others.

Music has given me so much, and with this project, I hope to pass that same joy and opportunity on to others.
