In honor of Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday, Daisy and Brownie Troops 66586, 65575, and 67462 combined forces to conduct a Birthday in a Bag Drive. Each participating girl was asked to do their best to collect items such as cake mix, frosting, candles, plates, napkins, and theme decorations. They were encouraged to reach out beyond their families to obtain supplies. Participating Girl Scouts who collected enough supplies to complete two bags were given a “Birthday in a Bag” fun patch.

All donations were given to A Precious Child Family Resource Center in Broomfield. At this facility, referred families are welcome to come in and shop (at no charge) for items they so desperately need. When a supported family has a child’s birthday, they are able to select an assortment of birthday supplies, in addition to shopping for food pantry supplies.

We are very proud to announce that our Girl Scouts collected enough donated supplies to fill a total of 46 complete sets of birthday bags for local children and their families. Plus, there were an additional 18 boxes of cake mix, 18 cans of frosting, and 24 boxes of candles for our charity’s food pantry shelves.

The leaders and participants of these three troops had such a positive experience that they have already begun planning their next community service project.
