Anna’s and Krista’s JLS 100 Girls Project: How to participate

Submitted by Krista and Anna Beucler, Northern & Northeastern CO

In 2019, two sisters from Girl Scouts of Colorado attended the Juliette Low Seminar (JLS), a World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) leadership seminar that took place at 18 hubs around the world. Krista attended JLS Thailand and Anna attended JLS Nigeria. You can read more about their experiences here. This opportunity was made possible for us by the Look Wider Scholarship and a generous donation from Diane Saber.

Every participant at JLS leaves with new leadership skills and a plan to share these skills with 100 girls, aged 12-18, in her community. Because of COVID-19, we’ve decided to combine our efforts and pivot our project to an online format. This curriculum can be completed by individual girls or troops working together.

Objectives: After participating in this badge girls will have an increased understanding of what leadership is in WAGGGS know the WAGGGS leadership model and mindsets and how to use these principles in their own life have an increased awareness of gender equality and United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 feel more connected to WAGGGS as a global movement have a plan outlined for accomplishing their Gold Award should they choose to attain this award

What are the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals?

In 2015, the United Nations decided on 17 Sustainable Development Goals intended to foster peace and prosperity in every country by 2030. The Goals are all interconnected and we’ll be discussing each one as it relates to one of the six WAGGGS Leadership Mindsets.
